{Inspiration} A fun mini tablescape

Two weeks ago in floral design class, I created a colorful springtime arrangement. Since I am horrible at constantly watering any flower, the arrangement that served as a centerpiece on our kitchen table started wilting away. Before I decided to throw it out, I plucked some of the flowers that were still decent and decided to create a mini inspiration post for a simple, yet fun tablescape.

{enjoy}

I wrapped a few of the flower stems in lace trimming, used some glitter clothespins from my shop and attached a chalkboard tag (which was created with card stock and chalkboard paint) to each.
For the centerpiece, I used a milk vase which I just recently thrifted and filled it with daisies and mini carnations. I also added a paper doily and a small ornate frame for a bit of extra detail.
It's so fun for spring and I'm happy I was able to "recycle" my dying floral arrangement! :D
Have a beautiful week my friends!

An idea for EVERY bride!

There are so many weddings in 2013! It can be so much fun planning for your wedding day and getting all of the details together. When I was planning my wedding back in 2010, I would be on the internet for hours looking at different ideas and finding any advice I can. There are thousands of pages with advice from wedding dresses, cake flavors, flowers that are in season-to-coordination, timelines and gifts to give to the bridesmaids. Most of all of this information can be overwhelming and tedious to go through and pick and choose what you want to incorporate.

Today though, I want to share an idea that EVERY bride should take into consideration.

Really think about what scent you will be wearing on your wedding day. Choose a perfume that you absolutely love (and hopefully your groom will love as well)!

This may seem silly and insignificant when there are SOOO many other details to worry about when it comes to one of the biggest days of your life BUT there's a GOOD reason behind this idea!

Scents are powerful memory triggers! Have you ever smelled something that automatically made you recall something from your past such as warm chocolate chip cookies bringing you back to your grandmothers house? The olfactory nerve (the nerve associated with your sense of smell) is located very close to areas of your brain that are linked with emotions and memory. The scent that you wear on your wedding day will bring back those beautiful romantic memories when you smell that same scent afterwards.

When I said "I Do" about 2 1/2 years ago, I was wearing Sexy Little Things Noir from Victoria's Secret. On special occasions, I bring out that black glass bottle and squeeze the pretty tasseled bulb on the end, sending droplets of sweet memories into the air.

What scent did you wear on your wedding day and if you are planning your wedding, what scent will you wear?

Secret Garden Inspiration

I know that it is about to be winter and most flowers aren't in bloom but I have been thinking about how gorgeous a secret garden themed party would be! Flowers make me so happy and to be surrounded by them with the sun kissing my face and delicious tea touching my lips, I could nearly melt! I found some inspiration photos to share so you can get a little glimps into what I am thinking (maybe for my birthday in August or even just an inspiration shoot?).

This theme would certainly call for a trip to the LA Flower Market (love, love, LOVE that place!)
I adore the purple and pink hues mixed with the greens for the color palette.
Beautiful right?
Now, I just need to search for the perfect garden!

New Feather Fascinators :)

I {love love love} feathers! I'm sure that's easy to tell though ;)
With the craft show that actually took place this morning/afternoon, I wanted to create some new pieces to reveal. Among many new arrivals, I designed a few new feather fascinators this past week!

Here are some of the new beauties!

{Enjoy}

This Teal, Black, & Silver fascinator was created using a black turkey marabou feather, teal saddle feathers, a spotted guinea feather, silver sparkley leaves, and an antique silver and teal button! It was all secured to a bobby pin for easy attachment and assembling to all hairstyles.

This little lovely peacock fascinator was created using white saddle feathers, rooster tail feathers, a beautiful peacock eye feather, and a vintage-inspired brooch! It was all then secured to an antique brass hair comb and looks sooo elegant when pinned in the hair.

I love this next feather fascinator! I created it using a dark grey ostrich plume, light pink goose coquille feathers, a spotted guinea feather, and a vintage-inspired brooch. I also attached this fascinator to an antique brass hair comb which makes it easy to pin into the hair.

This peacock butterfly, a version of the piece--WINGS, is actually a part of a custom order I am creating for 9 bridesmaids in a wedding that will be taking place in Pennsylvania on Oct. 29, 2011! They are all going to be created with alligator clips on the back so they can wear them attached to their sashes during the wedding and later, worn in their hair! :)

Vintage Inspiration

One of my best friends is getting married in a couple years or so and has started her wedding planning already {smart choice!} Her theme is a vintage love story and helping her plan it is so much fun especially because I adore vintage themed weddings! We have been going back and forth with ideas and finding so much inspiration from previous brides that have had similar ideas. So far, her wedding colors are {blush pink, ivory, champagne/tan, light aqua blue, and mustard yellow}

Inspiration for "A Vintage Love Story" came from a styled shoot by Jen from Greenweddingshoes and photographed by Caroline Tran

For more about this anniversary photoshoot, go to: http://greenweddingshoes.com/a-love-shoot-styled-by-green-wedding-shoes/

My friend loves to read so it was no surprise that having literature at her wedding was a must! For her centerpieces, She has gone to thrift stores and started buying vintage books to stack ontop of one another and so far has just about 25 books. All for $1 each!

Wedding inspiration came from: http://www.stylemepretty.com/2010/12/14/literature-themed-wedding-on-a-budget/

These {adorable mugs} can be purchased for $6 each at anthropologie

& They would make a beautiful display at a wedding on a guest book table, candy buffet table, or even at the sweetheart table!

Along with books for her centerpieces we found aqua mason jars {this is where light aqua blue made its appearance to the color scheme}

{from Bailiwick Designs}

{from Sadie Olive's flickr}

DOILIES!!!! So fun and feminin :D They will be on the tables as well laying underneath the vintage books and spread out in the center of the tables. So cute!
{from The Sweetest Occasion}

For favors? Jars of jam...Love it! So darling!
{from Jessie & Tyler's Wedding}

{from Eat Drick Chic}

The mission now is to find THE DRESS!!! The most important part! With soooo many different styles to choose from, this may be a long process. Updates will be coming your way as well as more vintage inspired ideas as we plan her wedding...
