A Vintage Ring and a Problem with Nail Polish. Help!

I added a new ring to my shop! There's only ONE available though because it's created with a vintage heart button (that I only have one of). I love the color of the mustard yellow/auburn sparkle it gives within it's facets when the light hits it. It sets perfectly on a bronze-colored filigree adjustable band so you can adorn it on any pretty finger you would like!
I think it's a lovely little statement ring for this season.
What do you think?

I named it:
||I Wear My Heart On My Finger||

Want more details and/or want to call this OOAK piece yours?
Find it in my shop here.
On another note, see my pink little nails in the photo above? Well, the night prior, I thought I would paint my nails for the first time in a long time when my son went to bed. So, I painted away and sat and watched "Face Off" on Hulu for a bit while they dried for a couple hours (maybe a little less?). I went to bed convinced my nails were really dry but when I woke up, I had creases all in the polish! This has happened to me too many times!!! Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a solution or a suggestion to get your nails completely dry faster?
Pleases and Thank Yous!
:D

{Treasures} I Found at the Antique Store!!

This weekend, one of the local antique shops was having a huge sale that also included some raffle tickets, giveaways, a band, free lunch, and coffee and tea to sip while shopping. I seriously could have stayed there alllll day! I told myself that I wasn't going to spend a bunch of money and I'm pretty proud of myself that I kept my word
(or at least I like to think I did).

Here are the treasures that I found!!

This little wooden birdcage has such a pretty clock built in. When I bought this, it was originally a blue color but I painted it today as my little project. After trying to figure out what color I really wanted, I ended up painting it ivory and distressing it a bit with sand paper. I love the way it turned out! I also covered up this weird symbol on the clock with a little black heart.
Much cuter. :)

This is what it looked like when I started painting it. The original color was that blue you can sort of see and I was deciding on brown for the new color too but didn't like it as much as the ivory.

This is another birdcage I found that I fell in LOVE with! No painting or changes need to be done with this one.
It is perfect! :)

I found this really pretty vintage flower brooch that will look so lovely pinned to my fall jackets and sweaters this season.
Don't you think?

Now this piece is really quite interesting because I don't think that it is really meant to be a crown but I'm going to use it as one! lol At the end of the month, I'm styling an "enchanting/fairytale" wedding inspired shoot and for a couple of the photos, I thought this would look cool on "prince charming" (the groom). So, I decided that to me, it is indeed-a crown! :)

The last item that I got was a vintage travel suitcase. I think it is so adorable and can be used in many ways (I love old suitcases-especially when they are used as decor for events and such).

You know what my favorite part is? I got all of these pieces for $41!
 Not bad right?
What are your favorite items that you have found while in antique shops or thrift shops?

Secret Garden Inspiration

I know that it is about to be winter and most flowers aren't in bloom but I have been thinking about how gorgeous a secret garden themed party would be! Flowers make me so happy and to be surrounded by them with the sun kissing my face and delicious tea touching my lips, I could nearly melt! I found some inspiration photos to share so you can get a little glimps into what I am thinking (maybe for my birthday in August or even just an inspiration shoot?).

This theme would certainly call for a trip to the LA Flower Market (love, love, LOVE that place!)
I adore the purple and pink hues mixed with the greens for the color palette.
Beautiful right?
Now, I just need to search for the perfect garden!
:)

DIY projects for a vintage circus themed party!

My son's first birthday party is coming up the first week of December and ever since he was 5 months old, I have been planning and buying for this big day! I'm quite excited and although he probably won't remember his 1st birthday, I will, and I will make sure there are LOTS of photos that will be taken! :)

When I was pregnant, I wanted to do a vintage circus theme for Levi's birthday once I found out we were having a boy. I'm pretty big on party planning (I want to eventually get into wedding and party planning) so I started knocking out projects that went with this theme.

Here are a few that I wanted to share.

I used this diy tutorial to create this light-up number ONE for decor. I still don't know where it will go but hey, it's really cool right? It is made from a foam board ($1 store), red poster board ($1 store), red paint, & christmas lights!

I bought these cool vintage-themed circus animal cards in the dollar bin at Michael's (along with a lot of other circus finds that will also be used) and since they were blank inside, I was able to create a personalized template for his invites. I used inspiration from this template to create my own version for his invitations.

Last night, I made my son's birthday shirt using a plain white onesie, polka dot fabric for his bow tie, 3 vintage buttons, and black elastic to make his "suspenders." I LOVED the way it turned out! Too, bad, I'm pretty sure it won't last long seeing how he dirtys his clothes everyday but what's a baby to do! :)

My grandmother gave me a large box so I can make a little ticket booth which will serve as a photostation for the kids. I have a bunch of animal face masks and moustache's that they can play with and take photos with as well. I can see the silly photos now! lol I used streamers to add the color to the box because I really didn't feel like painting. I also printed the word "TICKETS" using a cool font and cut them out (with the help of my dear friend-Debra) & pasted them to the box. I'm still working on the ticket booth...but you get the idea!

Now, today, Levi is getting his birthday photos taken by my father in law-amazing photographer of GP McCash Photography so we can put them in the invitations when they go out. I started setting up a little prop station in our house for his photos and this is what we have so far. :) I made a little bunting to go with it all.

I have sooo many more projects and ideas underway and I can't wait to see it all unfold on the big day!! YAAY!
