A little minion is on his way! {Baby Shower}

Jessica, a dear friend of mine is expecting her first little baby and I had the honor to throw her baby shower.
This past Sunday was the big day and it turned out pretty great I might add. For the theme, we went with Minions (from Despicable Me) which is quite unique and so much fun! Since I couldn't find minion baby shower decor ANYWHERE, I had to think "outside of the box" and decided to make just about everything.
Since my son was a minion for Halloween last year, I used his costume to hang from a clothesline as part of the main decor and for favors, I used Twinkies (now from Sara Lee) with minions on them. Now when I see minions, I swear I see Twinkies! lol
For games, we played The Price is Right, measure momma's belly with ribbon and who can change the baby doll's diaper the quickest-blindfolded (SO FUNNY)!
I received lots of help from Jess' sister Stephanie and her friend Kelly who took care of all the yummy food (seriously YUMMY) as well as placing decor. I am so thankful for all their help!
Jess looked oh so beautiful and had that mommy glow to her. Only 1 more month and little Blayze will be here soon!

A little minion is on his way!
{enjoy}
For the cake, I went with an ombre effect and made the toppers. Thank you Janette for baking the cake and creating it even better than I imagined! She did a lemon cake with raspberry filling and a yellow cake with strawberry mousse. SO GOOD!
These were my favorite yummies-cold grapes dipped in caramel and peanuts! LOVE!
I used this template for these adorable wish cards.
I used this template for the Price is Right.

Congrats momma to be! Can't wait to meet little Blayze and give him {BIG} hugs! :)

A sneak peek of the MINION baby shower + a lovely creative + a GIVEAWAY!

Most of you may know (especially if you follow me on Instagram) that I have been planning a minion themed baby shower for a dear friend of mine. Today, it all came together and I am SO excited to share a sneak peek with you guys!

The entire post will be coming soon but FIRST, I am so thrilled to introduce someone to you guys today!

Recently, I have had the pleasure to meet a sweet creative artist-Natalie of PaperFlora. She contacted me to sign up for a bridal workshop and when I saw her shop, I was in love! She creates beautiful pieces from clutches to bridal sashes as well as makeup brush rolls and even ring pillows!
I asked her to share a bit about herself because there is such a greater experience when you get to know the person behind the pretty pieces. Speaking of pretty pieces, she wants to give a handmade chevron clutch to one of you lucky readers! Awesome right? I told you she was sweet.
Without further ado, I give you Natalie...

Tell us a little bit about yourself (outside of the crafty world).
I live in sunny California and have for my entire life. I'm blessed to have 2 beautiful grown daughters, 1 great son-in-law, 1 perfect grand daughter and the same loving husband for the past 33 years.

When did you start being so creative and how did PaperFlora come about?
I have always been the creative type. I love all the needle arts, crocheting, crewel work, embroidery. I started sewing at a young age when my mother taught me to sew on my grandmothers petal Singer sewing machine.  I've made my own clothes, accessories & home decor.
My daughter got married a few years ago. It was an amazing day (http://paperflora2.blogspot.com/2012/03/blog-post.html)!  After planning that event, the wedding bug bit me and I decided to open an Etsy shop and feature personalized wedding accessories.

Where does your inspiration for new "pretties" come from?
I am always looking at color trends and following the forecasters to see what is coming up. But I have to love it too so a lot of my color combinations are things that please me and hopefully others will find them pretty too.

What are your favorite colors and prints to work with?
That changes as the seasons change. Right now I'm obsessed with the citrus colors, lemon and grapefruit. I'm working on new line for the shop titled Sweet and Tart which combines the lemony yellows with pink grapefruit and a subtle green. I'm also seeing a lot of pink and teal with a splash of gold. I love that too.

Where do you see PaperFlora in 3 years from now?
I love creating and working with beautiful fabrics, colors and embellishments... I know that will never end. I'm not sure exactly where PaperFlora will take me in future but I'm ready for where ever we go!

Win this super cute gray chevron wristlet with any flower color of your choice (or $30 shop credit-winners choice)!

The day my husband and I hopped into a floating basket

Remember when I said that I was TERRIFIED to go on the hot air balloon ride this week? Yesterday (actually on June 5), my husband and I finally went! Although I am really scared of heights, it seriously wasn't that bad. I was anticipating crazy butterflies, rapid breathing and hypertension but I didn't experience any of that. Ha! Who woulda thought?
To start the day, my husband and I woke up at 3 am to get ready and put the little guy in the car to take him to my mom's. We then headed to Temecula (Wilson Creek Winery to be exact) in excitement for the new experience ahead of us. After "signing our lives away" when we arrived, we all drove out of the parking lot and up the road to get out of the morning fog.
We watched the guys set up the basket and balloon while we took photos and practiced our "landing stance."
Seeing the giant balloon inflated, was actually quite inspiring with its bright colors and rectangular shapes. I couldn't stop taking photos of it!
Once we jumped into the basket and took off the ground, it was pretty cool to see the mountains on the horizon floating on the fog. The highest we went was about 800 feet up and we constantly went up and down with the hills of the valley. We saw lots of quick rabbits, sprinting coyotes, pretty horses and scattering chickens as we floated in the sky. I had a few moments though where I thought we were going to hit rocks but thankfully we coasted right above them.
I wish I could say that being on a hot air balloon ride is quite magical but I'd be lying if I did. Between the crazy amount of heat the fire blower puts out (they don't call it a HOT air balloon ride for nothin'), the loud noise the blower causes (which results in segmented conversations) and the very small space between you and the rest of the 7 others in the basket, it wasn't what I expected. Actually, my favorite part of the whole thing was the crazy landing which flung everyone forward a few times as we skid through brush and almost hit the roof of a house! LOL Never the less, it was still a fun experience that I am happy to say that I've had-and with my wonderful husband.
After we landed, we had mimosas in plastic cups, bagels, cookies and a rugged ride in the basket-on a trailer-to get back to our cars. It was an adventure to say the least. Not to mention we did all of this before 9am! That's when I usually wake up! I feel like I'm missing out on so much now if I don't wake up with the sun.
Here are some photos of the day my husband and I hopped into a floating basket.

 Mimosas. Cheers!
Life is beautiful! Have you had any recent adventures?

Bohemian Aztec Inspiration

After seeing this shoot by Stephanie Collins, I was swooned by all of the geometric shapes, aztec prints and subtle yet lively colors. I scoured the web for a bit more inspiration of this beautiful little trend-starting with this GORGEOUS Mara Hoffman dress which was in this styled shoot.

How cool would this be as a back drop? Painted cardboard box-genius!
I adore this colorful bouquet with feathers!
Crochet barefoot sandals from Golden Hands Design.
DIY doily dreamcatchers. I. must. make. these!
Pretty white rhinestone headpiece from my shop.
Love this tablescape. It looks messy in a beautiful way.
Very cool feather print from Sometimes Crafter.
In order to mix these two trends, I see geometric shapes, feathers and gorgeous messy braids. What to you think about these trends being combined?

7 things {I am loving} right now

Right now, I am loving quiet time. The house is completely silent as my sweet son is napping away on the floor and my hard working husband is napping in the bedroom. {Ahhh}

I am loving my new lace shorts I got from Ross the other day. I really don't like wearing shorts too often but these are little beauties!

P.S. I just got my lens replaced for my DSLR camera so I won't have to post many phone pics anymore! :)

I am loving the anticipation of the hot air balloon ride this Wednesday as well as the Tim McGraw concert next Saturday!

I am loving that my husband is now on vacation-hence, what I just said above. ^

I am loving the Beautiful Mess app. I seriously think everyone is right now! I wonder when we will all get tired of seeing the same doodles on everyone's photos?? As of now, I will doodle away!
Follow me on Instagram here.

I am loving the fact that I saw my chain headpiece advertised with Etsy.com on my Facebook sidebar last night. A nice surprise. :)

Last but not least, I am loving the huge amount of support I have received from friends, family and all you readers. I just feel very well loved and so thankful! :)

What are you loving right now?

Have a beautiful weekend!
