{Creative Tea Time} Peek at Floral Crown Giveaway

It's been a whirlwind of craziness lately! I've been so busy in and outside of the craft room. I'm certainly not complaining though because it's all been really good. I've had meetings with brides for coordinating their 2014 weddings, cranking out floral crowns for the new line and the photo shoot this Friday (received 60+ model applicants in one day!!), birthday celebrations, family reunion, house work, yard work, running around with baby love, working on shop orders and everything in between.

Today though, I'm giving you a preview of some giveaway pretties I just shipped out for Creative Tea Time next weekend. Remember that uber pretty and super fun craft event I attended back in September? Well, I'm going back for round 2 this Saturday! So excited to sip tea, eat YUMMY food and work on some fun crafts with inspiring ladies once again!

This is my contribution for another lovely day.

I created 2 floral crowns to giveaway (one for Saturday and one for Sunday) to 2 lucky ladies. I also finished a total of 71 business card sets with promo codes, glitter and lace.

Will you be there? If so, come and say hello! I'd love to meet you!

Loving Lately (A Fox Inspired Styled Shoot, Dream Catchers & A Heart Warming Cause)

What I am loving this beautiful Monday morning.

This fox-inspired bridal shoot by Tara Shiloh Photography.
Tara contacted me a few months ago asking if I'd create some unique pieces for this shoot that she had in mind in the snow fallen woods. So fascinated by her amazing concept, I created a headpiece made with black tulle as a blusher veil and fox ears. I also made some last minute wrist cuffs with left over tulle and pretty vintage-inspired buttons. These are pieces I will forever treasure from the styled shoots that I've been a part of!
I was SO excited to see this creative process come to life in the couple of 'sneak peeks' she just recently posted!! I want to see more!

Cooking.
I never thought I'd say it but I have really enjoyed being in the kitchen and making something delicious from our own home! My husband and I just bought a couples cookbook and have made a few yummy recipes so far (except for the one where a "pinch" of red pepper flakes turned into half of the container because the lid came off)! Ha! Spending this time together has been a lot of fun. Not to mention, the SCRUMPTIOUS food we get to eat that we made

I think I will make some fruity pancakes this morning with eggs and greens...

Being Productive.
Ok, so maybe getting ready for taxes isn't something that I'm "loving" but I can say that I love the feeling of getting things done and marking things off a list. Lately, I've been waking up around 5:30 am to start my day. It certainly has not been easy (especially because of my hypothyroid) but after doing it for a few weeks, I feel SO much better throughout the day and I feel more energetic to be productive. It's been really nice to wake up before baby love, drink my coffee, do my devotion and head to the craft room or start house chores and breakfast before the sun comes up.

If you aren't a morning person (like so many of us) and feel like you have less energy than your daily tasks require, I strongly suggest getting up earlier than your normal wake up time. After doing this for about a week (even a day), you will notice a major difference and it will become a healthy habit!

Dream Catchers.
There's just something so whimsical and inspiring about these beauties!
I have been creating dream catchers made with laces, feathers, beads and now sweet little inspirational quotes hand sewn to them. I have been debating whether or not I should add them to the shop because I'm not sure if they are cohesive with my pieces already available. Until I make up my mind, I've been taking custom orders (lovesparklepretty@aol.com)! See more of my designs on Instagram.

Speaking of dreams...
Heart Warming Causes-especially those that help sweet baby loves.
Operation Smile has been such a beautiful cause since 1982. They have performed over 200,000 free cleft surgeries world wide that have saved countless lives of children. What a wonderful gift those medical professionals are sharing!

A few years ago when I was getting ready for Nursing School, I came across Campus Book Rentals who actually give back to this charity with every rented book. Not only do you get your college books at a discounted price (40%-90% cheaper than bookstore prices) with FREE shipping both ways, but you also help save children's lives by giving to Operation Smile

Campus Book Rentals also has a new program called Rent Back where instead of selling your books, you can rent them to other students and make more money! It's the better alternative than reselling your books at the end of the semester/quarter.

What are you loving today??

I want to remember this morning.

Last night after our dinner date at P.F. Changs, my husband and I grabbed some warm coffee at Corner Bakery Cafe and decided to stroll the outside shopping mall. As we walked toward Willams-Sonoma, I had an idea to look at cookbooks (this is the only thing that inspires me to cook-if they have pretty pictures). I then realized that Brandin has never been in this store and was surprised that a knife set could cost $1,500+ & $45 stirring spoons do exist...can you tell I buy our cookware at Target? lol I am IN LOVE with this store though! It makes we want to throw a dinner party every time I walk through those doors.

We headed over to the shelves where all of the desired cookbooks were on display. As we glanced through a few, I stumbled upon Two in the Kitchen-a cookbook for newlyweds. Although we aren't necessarily newlyweds anymore, it looked appealing. Brandin must have thought so too since he stood there reading (what seemed like every page) as I marveled within other book covers.

As I migrated to the cherry tomatoes, I noticed my husband walk to the counter with the book in hand. A huge smile danced on my lips. "So, we are going to cook together?" I asked. "Yes." He said. "Promise?" "Promise." And we walked out.

On our way home, he had me pick out a breakfast recipe as our first from the book. We both decided on Eggs Benedict and stopped by the store to pick up the ingredients for the next morning.

It was 6am when Brandin got up and 6:30 when I finally put my feet on the floor. We were both awake before our little one and that was the plan.

We started with playing some Ray LaMontagne ('Let it be Me' was first to come out of the speakers) and lit a yummy smelling candle. Brandin wiped down the counter tops as I flipped the book open to Eggs Benedict and got the utensils ready. Ingredients were then put together in measuring cups and the team work began.

I started on the hollandaise sauce with cracking eggs and melting butter. Brandin started with cooking the fresh baby spinach, boiling water for the poached eggs and reading through the directions.

Brandin: "How do you spell ramekin?" (As he starts googling this item to find out what it is)
Me: (communicated the spelling) "Is that like a knife or something?"
Brandin: "I don't know but it looks like they're sold at Walmart....Oh wait, it looks like it's that small bowl our whisk is sitting on."
Me: "I think we should take some cooking classes..."

We had some good laughs.

As everything was just about done and Brandin poached his first eggs-ever, our little one awoke to a yummy smelling kitchen-bed head and all.

We set the table, prayed together and admired our work before delving in. "Mmmmmm" was all I could manage to say. Not only was this my first taste of an Eggs Benedict but it tasted SO DELICIOUS-a nice surprise to what I was anxious about.

We decided to make this a daily tradition. One meal a day-together.

The time that we were able to spend together (which doesn't come very often) was priceless. When you're married for a little while (3 1/2 years for us) there may be moments were you find yourselves wondering "what can we do together that we both will enjoy?" Finding time together that was meaningful didn't come as easily as it once seemed it was so we found ourselves asking that very question.

Although Brandin loves to cook a lot more than I do, it can seem like a chore to anyone at times and so uninviting. Doing this together though, makes it a lot more fun and even with a toddler in the kitchen, we can teach him what different utensils are (we may have to google some-ha!), the types of ingredients and tastes that trigger certain palettes.

His favorite part, eating the yummy goodness!

I will hold onto this beautiful morning and I look forward to many more of these sweet moments...

What do you and your husband/significant other do for fun to spend meaningful time together?

Sneak Peek of the Craft Studio

I have been working on organizing the new craft room since we've moved into our new home back in November. For the longest time, I had no motivation to create anything within the bare space and I know it was because the room was so uninspiring to me...yet I didn't want to organize or clean to fix the problem. Go figure right?

Well, as of a few days ago, I have been completely wrapped up in getting this room decorated, organized and 'encouraging'. I still have quite a bit of work to do but I'm pretty proud of it's progress.
Here's a little sneak peek of some details within my new craft studio.

Enjoy.

What's on the craft table...

I painted a closet door with chalkboard paint to fill with inspirational quotes and 2014 business goals.

The 'work desk'. Usually this space is full of papers, shipping labels, reminder post-its and new ideas.
As I organize this room, I feel the need to create. This gives me the most inspiration when I need it. Although I had surgery two days ago, I have been in this room at my craft table several times because I gravitate towards a clean slate that begs to become a creative mess. It's this longing in my DNA. It's just a part of me!
Where do you reside for your creative outlet?

DIY 'CREATE' Glitter Banner

This year, I wanted to have a craft studio that inspired me. With a larger space, the creative possibilities are almost endless!
The word, "create" seems to bring inspiration and I wanted to display it not only for myself but I wanted to share it with a couple of friends as well. So, as a part of a few Christmas gifts, I made some of these "create" banners to serve as reminders throughout this new year.

Here's what you'll need:
*6 pieces of cut (~4"x3") fabric. I used muslin.
*Hot glue
*Glitter
*A scratch piece of paper
*A pencil
*Lace &/or trim (or any other type of ribbon or twine you'd like to hang the letters from)

First, you will lay your cut pieces of fabric out and if you need to, trace your letters onto your fabric (one letter to each piece). Next, take your Elmer's glue or any other white school glue and trace one of your letters you wrote. *If you are confident in your handwriting, you probably don't have draw the letters first with pencil.

Next, pour your glitter carefully over the letter you just drew. Once it is covered, gently pat the excess glitter onto your scratch piece of paper. Set aside to dry.

After your first letter, write your next letter with the glue. You can use the excess glitter from your scratch paper to cover the rest of your letters by creating a small crease in the paper to let the glitter slide down easily. Use the glitter from your jar/tube when needed.
Also, you can use the tip of your pencil to smooth any edges that may be uneven from the glue.

Once all of your lettering is finished, set aside to dry for about 10 minutes or so.

If you are using lace fabric (like I have), you can cut a strip about 1" by 26"-30". Your letters will hang from this strip of lace. If you are using ribbon or trim, just cut it so the length measures about 26"-30".

When your letters are dry, you can now attach your letters to your trim/ribbon. Leave about 3"-4" on the end of your trim and start to glue the top of your letters to the trim about a .5" apart. You can use the white glue if you prefer but I find that hot glue works best for this because it dries much quicker.

If you are using lace fabric, you may see the glue show through so for my solution, I used another lace trim to attach to the top of each letter and folded over.

& your banner is done and ready to hang!
What's your word of 2014?
Have a beautiful New Year!

Recently (Thanksgiving, Christmas, a birthday party & everything in between)

It's the end of another year...ummm since when?? I feel like 2013 went by so quickly and when I wake up tomorrow, it will be January 1, 2014!!
These past couple months have been a bit hectic but have been the start of new beginnings. We moved into our new home together, hosted Thanksgiving, hosted Levi's 2nd bday party, hosted Christmas breakfast, I reopened my shop after a 2 1/2 week break and in 2 more days, I have a laproscopic surgery. Needless to say, the blog has been going untouched for days...even weeks at time.
I haven't blogged a "recently" post in a while to I figured the last day of 2013 would be a good time. Here's a little photo montage from the past couple months.

Moving into the new craft studio. I am in love with my gold polka dots from Polka Dot Wall Stickers!

Our first Thanksgiving in our new home.

Levi's 2nd birthday party (blog post here).

Friend time! My sisters since 1st grade!

Back to work. The night I re-opened shop.

Got to be a part of this beautiful shoot by Cortnie Dee! This gold and ivory floral crown has made its debut. Get this piece in the shop!

Received some happy mail from a Christmas Swap. Thank you Colleen! By the way, I am LOVING the book, The Happiness Project! So inspiring!!

I also sent some happy mail...

I started my 'pieces of my heart' map where I began to pin the different countries that I've shipped hand made items to. I realized 2 things, I need a separate (and much larger) map of the U.S. and I need many more pins...I ran out. I may not be able to travel the world like I'd want to but I certainly have little pieces of my heart scattered throughout the world and that is enough to make me smile. :) Thank you to all who have helped turn my passion into so much more!

Some local packages were sent out of the craft room...

Our Christmas. Hosted breakfast at our house, had lunch at my MIL's then had dinner at my FIL's. It was SUCH a great family day!!

Christmas afternoon.

Levi got his first car!

Home. Our Christmas night.

Working on new designs for the new line of floral crowns debuting in January. See a sneak peek of these pretty pieces on Instagram.

Last but not least, a good reminder when you are jotting down you New Year resolutions...

Have a beautiful New Year my friends! I pray it brings many blessings and opportunities for you and your families. :)
I am starting mine out with surgery, 3 photo shoots, a new line, Creative Tea Time and a trip to New York in April...sounds about right.
